About the work

The emerald silk is a surface. It holds a sheen of the world around it – the last of the market light, the dampness of the air, the unblinking awareness of the street. It is the most deliberate thing in the frame, and yet it feels accidental, a fleeting moment of chosen elegance against the general flux. There is a way the body, so carefully presented, still leans into the rough stucco. A subtle giving-in to the texture of the world, even when clad in something so absolute. This is the truth of being seen: that even the most perfect enclosure of the self will eventually take on the dust and grit of whatever it touches. The suit is a membrane, not a shield. And the wall, for its part, takes everything and shows nothing.
