About the work

The robot is trapped, an inverse Theseus in a labyrinth of its own making, or rather, a labyrinth it was designed to clean but now only ensnares it. Its red sensor eye, once a beacon of efficiency, now glows with a kind of blind futility against the snarl of cables. This small, unheroic struggle, set against the pristine, almost sterile glow of the new cafeteria, suggests a deeper, systemic failure. We build systems to simplify, to automate, to perfect, yet they invariably produce their own unique forms of friction, their own unintended chaos. The sheer cleanliness of the room, ironically, highlights the robot's singular, pathetic inability to fulfill its purpose. It's a closed loop, endlessly repeating its futile efforts, a silent, whirring elegy to our ambitions.
