
About the work
The orchid arrived yesterday afternoon. It came from head office, part of a new initiative: "Cultivating Wellness in the Workspace." They’d been told to put it somewhere prominent, somewhere it would be seen. This spot, on the counter next to the new espresso machine, had been chosen after much deliberation. The new machine, also from head office, was supposed to signal a new era of productivity and positive morale. No one has touched the orchid. The espresso machine has not been used. What no one at head office knows is that the orchid will soon outlast the factory itself.
