About the work
She found the bears on her way home from the market, left out with a ‘Free’ sign in front of a brownstone. They were too big to fit in her own machine. She didn't want to leave them to the rain, so she brought them here, to the laundromat where she sometimes did her heavy blankets. He had promised to meet her, to help lift them out when the cycle was done, but the snow was already sticking to her coat, and the light from the lamp made her wait feel endless. The spin cycle had stopped ages ago. She just didn't know how to carry all this home alone.
