About the work

The llama was brought here from a farm in Scotland after a difficult winter. It didn't belong on this moor, but nobody seemed to mind. The farmer who owned it had decided that a change of scenery would do it good, hoping the different grasses would solve some lingering digestive issues. He was a man who believed in the power of a fresh start, even for an animal. This particular llama had a habit of staring at its own reflection in puddles, a peculiar vanity for a creature of the fields. That’s what they said. But it still doesn’t explain why it always stood just a little apart from the rest of the herd.
