About the work

It was made on a rainy Tuesday, or maybe one of those bright, still days where the air outside feels too heavy to move. The child had insisted. They’d gotten it at a fair, or perhaps a seaside shop with sand gritty on the floor. It had to go in the window, specifically this window, because it was the best one for catching the breezes that weren't there. For years it spun for no one, a tiny, colourful sentinel marking the slow passage of time until the child grew up and forgot about it, or the family moved away. Nobody ever thought to take it down.
