About the work

The light from this lamp is always the same, no matter what time it is, or what’s happening outside the window. He bought it at a department store that went out of business a year later, a place where everything felt vaguely temporary. It was supposed to be a temporary solution for a temporary problem – a room with no overhead light. That was ten years ago. Now, it’s the only consistent thing in his life, and the only thing that ever really illuminates the particular blue cast of his own skin.
