About the work

The rabbit costume, vivid and perhaps a little tired, seems to have been pulled from some other narrative entirely. It suggests a day already long, or a task begun too early, quite apart from the high-street polished glass. The trolley, scraped and scarred, speaks of a different kind of transport than one expects here, a history of necessity rather than choice. It is the accidental meeting of two economies: one of polished display and carefully curated experience, and the other of simple movement, of getting things from one place to another by force of will. This rabbit is not playing; it is working. There is a weight to the trolley’s progress, a friction of metal on concrete, an effort that transcends the whimsical. It suggests that even the most fantastical of forms can carry the burden of the everyday.
