About the work

The orange peel was left by a girl named Maya, who sat on this bench with her mother and little brother, both of them arguing about who got the biggest slice. Her mother told her to stop leaving her mess, but Maya was already distracted by a dog running past. It had been peeled quickly, almost carelessly, the segments torn apart as soon as they were free. Now it lies here, an abandoned vessel, and the ant has found it. It’s hard to tell if the ant is taking from the peel or just exploring.
