About the work
The formal shoes are an anomaly, scuffed but polished, out of place against the rough granite and the worn nylon of the ropes. They suggest a recent transition, a shedding of one world for another, though not a complete one. Perhaps they were worn for travel, or for an obligation now fulfilled, a brief detour before returning to the true purpose of the day. There’s a certain weight to them, a formality that contrasts with the fluid movement of a climb, hinting at responsibilities that wait, that will return. This is not escape, not entirely, but a deliberate, chosen pause. The shine on the leather holds a memory of fluorescent lights, now reflecting the unfiltered sun, marking a space between what is demanded and what is deeply desired.
