The oil on the asphalt is not a spill, not an accident, but the first thing to reflect the light that is coming. You are still in the dark, but the light is already there, somewhere. This is what you have to look for: the parts of the world that are already seeing what you cannot. It’s never the whole thing, but a tiny iridescent film, a rainbow on a puddle.
