About the work

The pigeon on the ledge is a speck against the sheer concrete. It is a detail so small as to be almost an accident of the frame, a random element drawn into the picture by chance. Yet it is the only living thing in the image that isn't moving with purpose, isn't rushing somewhere with the other figures blurring below. This stillness against the frantic blur suggests a different kind of time, a time not measured by the workday, nor by the slow decay of the building itself, but by something else entirely. It is as if the pigeon is the true anchor, holding its corner of the universe in a way the building, for all its mass, cannot. What we see here is not just a building, but a place where time folds in on itself, where the monumental is revealed in the minuscule.
